Since its founding in 2002 by a couple of dads wanting to dust off their guitars, Splattimis P has performed original music and cover songs at at area festivals, events, clubs, coffee houses, restaurants, private parties, you name it, playing whatever best fits the venue or crowd. Audiences are happily surprised by the band’s eclectic set lists, where a classic punk, three-chord thrasher might follow a Motown pop hit. Wildly varied, family friendly gigs at apple orchards, water parks, marathons, bike races and bowling alleys helped the band gain the notice of Going Places magazine and ChicagoParent.com

The moniker, Splattimis P. was adopted in June 2011, after having been known as SLuMP for many years. The new name is a mash-up of the band members’ names, Steve Ploum, Matt Didier, Tim Gordon, Chris Reidel and Patty Messersmith. You can spend time trying to figure it out, or you can just join them at an upcoming show and they will gladly let you in on the equation.
